September Meeting Highlights


September 11th Meeting: 
Hoop Shoot will be held on Saturday, November 16th, at Bayou Blue Middle School with Registration starting at 9:00 AM and the competition starting at 10:00 AM. 

Friday, September 20th, is POW/MIA Remembrance Day. In honor of the remembrance, Houma Lodge #1193 will be conducting the POW/MIA Ritual Ceremony at 6:30 pm with a Potluck Social afterwards.
  
Ray LeBlanc reported that Houma Lodge #1193 currently had 31 members delinquent in their dues. He is currently making phone calls to contact them. 

Warren reported that every morning the Houma Lodge #1193 serves coffee to the Veterans between 7 AM to 9 AM and breakfast on Fridays. Warren invited members and Veterans to come on out and if you know of a Veteran please invite them. 

The House Committee reported that the work on the Lift has begun. When complete it will provide a means for our disable and handicapped members to attend meetings. 

The Houma Lodge #1193 voted 0 in favor and 15 opposed on the Constitutional Resolution authorizing the merger of two or more state associations. 

On Friday, September 6th, the Secretary and Treasurer resigned their positions for personal reasons. 

Wayne Landry DDGER attended the meeting as part of his annual visitation to Houma Lodge #1193 and spoke on his observations. 

September 25th Meeting:

Warren reported on Hoop Shoot that currently he had 8 Elks committed to helping. In order to promote for a large number of participants, he said that he would like to have at least 15. If you would like to assist with the Hoop Shoot, please let Warren Michel know so that he can plan accordingly. 

We discussed the Adopt-a-School program and discussed coordinating a meeting on Sunday, September 29th, 6:00 to 7:00 PM before the Saints Game. Anybody interested in helping are welcome to attend the meeting. 

Houma Lodge #1193 had nominations and elections to fill the vacancy of Secretary and Treasurer. Julie Jeansonne was nominated and elected as Secretary and Ray LeBlanc was nominated and elected as Treasurer. Marvin Redmond was nominated and elected to the Year 3 Trustee Position.
