February Meeting Highlights

Hello Elks:

Our Elks organization has been continuing our Community Charitable Giving even throughout this pandemic. We are proud to have donated two Grants to worthy organizations in our community. The Terrebonne Churches United Food Bank received the Beacon Grant in the amount of $3500. The second organization, the Terrebonne Community Gardens received our Spotlight Grant in the amount of $2500. Through this partnership with the gardens we not only hope to gain new members but also to share in the Elks mantra of Charity and Brotherly Love. The garden located on our Coteau property hopes to produce 3000 pounds of produce for the food bank. The garden on the Coteau property will work to share this under- used facility with interactions with other giving organizations such as the Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts and the Master Gardeners. We have many exciting plans for the future. The Houma Lodge should be very proud!

Thank you all and God Bless,

January Meeting Highlights

It has been difficult for all of us to stay positive throughout this pandemic and indeed through these trying times for our country. But our love of God and country must stay intact! It’s been a trying year. (Yes, a year!)

For the Elks, our charitable giving also remains intact.  We have gotten approval for our $3500 Beacon Grant to be donated to the Terrebonne Churches Food Bank.  We have also obtained the Spotlight Grant in the amount of $2000 for the Terrebonne Community Gardens. We hope through the Spotlight Grant we forge a great community partnership for education of our youth, in addition to producing more food  for our community and the local food banks. We are very excited to maintain the gardens and utilize the Coteau property to a fuller extent.

Our Mardi Gras season has been postponed but the crews hope to roll in April. Let’s all keep our fingers
crossed. We all hope to see our Houma streets filled with good times again!

In sadness we must also report the death of two of our Elk members. Please keep the families of Roy
Youngblood, Jr. and Keith M. Whipple in your hearts and prayers.

God Bless.

Fraternally yours,

December Meeting Highlights

Happy New Year Elks!

I hope everyone had a healthy and happy holiday! We all welcome 2021. Our Lodge is trying to maintain some semblance of "normal" through these difficult times. We have gotten approval for both the Beacon Grant and the Spotlight Grant to assist the Terrebonne Churches United Food Bank and the Terrebonne Community Garden Project respectively. We are excited to help provide funds to these deserving organizations during this pandemic.

We are please to welcome our new member, Kimberly Fincher. Congratulations and welcome.

Because Corona cases are increasing on a daily basis, we hope and pray the new vaccine will assist our country in putting an end to this. Let God shine his light upon us.

Our Elk Lodge like most businesses is struggling due to the lack of fundraising events and will find ourselves in need of all our members assistance in trying to maintain our status as a charitable and giving organization. We wish to thank those who will assist us through their generosity and kindness.

Again, Happy New Year! Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who are suffering during this time. God Bless you.

Fraternally yours,
Julie Jeansonne
